Germany's best kept secret
Situated in the picturesque valley of the river Elbe, Dresden is a thriving hub renowned for its beautiful architecture, breathtaking surroundings, cultural diversity and sporting activities. The city itself can look back on over eight hundred years of history and is not only home to Germany's oldest Christmas market but is also at the heart of one of Europe's most northerly wine-growing areas. The city is characterized by a stunning array of architectural styles ranging from Baroque through Classical to Modernist. An excellent municipal, regional and national rail and road network coupled with Dresden international airport also means that the rest of Europe - and the world – is just a small step away. So whether you're into climbing the intriguing sandstone rocks in nearby Saxony Switzerland, taking in an opera at the fantastic Semper Opera House or sauntering through the historic alleys of the city center, Dresden is guaranteed to have something to suit everyone.
